Alisha Holt grew up – for the most part – in Sugar Land, TX. She first felt a call to ministry at the National Acteens Convention when she was 15. As a freshman at Shorter College in Rome, GA she attended the Missions ’90 conference with members of her Baptist Student Union. It was there that she was called to international missions. |
David & Alisha met at Shorter College and were married on October 1, 1994. They moved to Ft. Worth, TX in 1996 so that David could attend Southwestern Seminary. They traveled to Argentina for the first time with Global Missions Fellowship in July of 1999. This mission trip served to confirm a suspicion that Argentina would be a good fit for them! Growing up in Texas, Alisha began to study Spanish in the 6th grade and was blessed with teachers who instilled in her a love for not only the language but the Latin culture as well. Her studies continued through college. From January to May of 1993, she served through the International Service Corps in Mexico City. David’s interest in Argentina was whetted through seminary professors at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. The following semester, David and IMB missionary Steve Woods began to spend time together. As Steve shared his love for the Criollo people and the ministry developing in the northern provinces, and David shared their conversations with Alisha, they began to understand God was calling them to serve among the Criollo as well. |
