Church in La Matanza
|
![]() The people of Monte de Sion decided together to start a new congregation in this country settlement. They began meeting in the front yard of one of the believers and were soon able to claim this lot and clear it. The economic crash in Argentina has made it difficult on everyone, without a car it is very difficult for any of the Quitilipi people to get out to La Matanza. Pastor Chapo and 2 young teachers, travel to the location as often as possible – either in a borrowed truck, with NAC SG personnel, or on motor scooters to continue leading this group of believers. |

| Many of the adult Criollo in this community cannot read or write, in fact, becoming believers has inspired a few of the adults to take reading classes in order to read the Bible for themselves. Because of the low literacy rate, tangible object lessons and puppets are great teaching tools for all ages. |
![]() The group arrives around 9 o’clock in the morning on Sundays. Usually there are children already waiting. After singing worship songs and sharing a Bible story or short sermon, hot tea and homemade bread are served to all the participants. For many, this will be their main meal of the day.
|
![]() While the needs of the church are many, they are diligent to attend and hopeful for the future. This year they hope to build a small kitchen area so that those who walk long distances (up to 4 kilometers) can stay and fellowship together during the hot siesta hours before returning home. |
Pastor
Chapo is discipling Sergio each Wednesday afternoon to be the leader there in
La Matanza. Sergio rides his bicycle 46 kilometers each way to spend time with
Pastor Chapo.

Will
you pray with us for this young church? Please pray that Sergio will remain
faithful to the task and lead his congregation to stronger faith in God and
turning their backs on the witchdoctors? Will you pray that the members of Monte
de Sion will do their best to equip this young leader and encourage him to lead
on his own? Most importantly, will you pray that God be glorified in this
community?
